tumblr keeps threatening to die

I was never on livejournal (it was mostly gone by the time I got into fandom) but i think dreamwidth is an interesting site to explore if tumblr DOES go poof one day...


it's going to be weird, because no one posts like they do on tumblr outside of tumblr. i'll really miss it, if it ever is gone. i'm already using better grammar here than i ever did on tumblr, lol

Very true. I think I even say in my profile that if you want xyz kind of stuff, go over to my Tumblr instead. (Part of that is that the fandom I'm currently most interested in, no one seems to have heard of here.) But they're kinda designed for different things. Of those of us here who were active on LJ previously, we tended to all be horrified when LJ added a feature that was kinda-sorta like reblogging or retweeting, lol. And we don't really have a good equivalent of the tracked tags here, which is a good way to find new people to follow on Tumblr; you can search posts, but you can't just see, like, a feed of "recent public posts made that were tagged with this tag" (at least I don't think so. maybe someone's cobbled together something homebrewed).

it's definitely interesting to figure out dreamwidth's vibe! i do like that it forces me to make original posts more. i think i'll start crossposting for tumblr holidays
